Minority reshuffle borne out of greed and selfishness  -Suhuyini

The Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhuyini, has slammed the decision by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership to appoint leaders in Parliament without proper consultation.

Cassiel Ato Forson’s selection as the new Minority leader in Parliament has angered some NDC supporters across the nation, particularly in Tamale South, where the former caucus leader, Haruna Iddrisu, is an MP.

Angry supporters want the decision reversed, but the party’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, and Party General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey, believe the action is in  the best interest of the party .

The Tamale North MP, on the other hand, believes the unpopular decision feeds into normal human extreme greed and selfishness.

Alhassan Suhuyini made the comments on social media handles on Thursday.

Read full statement:

Like life, death, and taxes, change is the other constant. Therefore, I’m not against constructive changes born out of an exhaustive consultative process involving key stakeholders of the party and our front bench as a minority group.

Clearly, that is not what has happened, no matter how well-intentioned it may be.

Worse of all, whoever is advising the strategy of the proposed new leaders, is feeding into a normal human extreme greed and selfishness, perhaps because those people are unable to untame their greed too.

Given the composition of our caucus, as against our opponents and the expectations of what we can achieve together and the reality of what we can not, even if we are together.

It will take extreme greed and selfishness to want to lead this NDC caucus at ALL COST at this time, without a toss about long term consequences on the caucus and party.

I wonder why it seems people think they can intimidate the entire caucus into submitting to an authority we consider inappropriately constituted. Some may, but not majority of us and it’s not personal, it’s conviction, it is principled.
