Motor riders gave money to Mahama to pick nomination forms- Apambila alleges

President of the National Association of Okada Riders, Ghana, Mohammed Apambila, has alleged that some motor riders gave former president, John Dramani Mahama, money to go and pick the nomination forms to contest as a flagbearer of the NDC at the upcoming presidential and parliamentary primaries.

As shocked as he was, he said it was not right for riders to declare their support for any candidate until he becomes president and was therefore not happy about what happened.

His comments follow the gathering of nomination forms by the former president to contest as flagbearer of the NDC.

On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, former President John Dramani Mahama picked up nomination forms to run in his party’s upcoming presidential primaries.

Speaking on Atinka TV‘s morning show, Ghana Nie with Ama Gyenfa Ofosu Darkwa, Mohammed Apambila was of the belief that those who went to openly support John Mahama were not Okada riders or part of the National Association of Okada Riders, but rather some NDC members.

“I heard that the riders went to give him money to go and pick up the nomination forms to contest the flagbearer seat. I do not agree with them, because with our association, you cannot go and support any candidate and tell the person what to do. “Whoever wins is our president, so you cannot go and support a candidate and tell the person what you want him to do, so for what they did, I do not support them,” he said.

Meanwhile, when asked how the Okada business fared when John Mahama was president and under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s time, he said during both regimes, the operations by the police were different.

However, financially, he said business was the same under both governments.
