Former Member of Parliament for Sefwi-Akontombra in the Western North Region, Alex Tetteh Djornobuah, has launched a scathing attack on the Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyemfi, calling for his immediate dismissal following allegations of dollar sharing within just three months of his appointment.
Speaking on Atinka 104.7 FM’s morning show hosted by Ekow Budu Sam, the MP did not hold back, describing Gyemfi’s conduct as arrogant and a betrayal of public trust.
“This is someone who hasn’t even been confirmed yet, and in just 120 days, he is already sharing dollars,” – the MP said.
Hon. Djornobuah insisted that if President John Mahama wants to uphold integrity and accountability, he must act swiftly.
“We expect the President to do the honorable thing. If he is truly a man of his words, he must sack Sammy Gyemfi now. It’s never true that the amount shared was just $1,000. He wanted to show off that he has money.”
The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has summoned Sammy Gyemfi, following a viral video in which he is seen handing out money in public.
The MP expressed disappointment in what he called a poor start to President Mahama’s second administration.
“In 120 days, all we’ve seen is dumsor, dollar sharing, and economic hardship. The price of cement is rising again, yet CSOs that criticized Cecilia Dapaah are silent now. Where are they?”
He also questioned the government’s seriousness about implementing its flagship 24-hour economy policy, calling it vague and lacking clear direction. “There is no sign of any real plan. What we’re seeing is just political noise,” he stated.
In a startling claim, the MP alleged that some drip machines procured by the previous NPP government for hospitals are now being used for sand winning operations, calling it a disgrace and a misuse of public health resources.
He ended his remarks with a passionate appeal to the clergy. “I am calling on all pastors to rise and speak. Silence is not an option when public resources are being wasted.”
As pressure mounts on the presidency, the public awaits an official response from President Mahama on whether action will be taken against Sammy Gyemfi.
