MTN Assures Public: Mobile Money Systems Are Safe and Secure

Mobile Money Limited (MoMo), a subsidiary of MTN Ghana, has dismissed recent social media rumours suggesting that its systems have been compromised in a cybersecurity breach.

In an official statement, the company described the claims urging customers to withdraw their funds as “completely misleading, untrue, and potentially mischievous.”

According to MoMo, there has been no impact on the operations or security of the mobile money system. “No customers have lost any of their money. Our platform remains safe and secure, and customer funds are protected,” the statement emphasized.

MoMo further highlighted that it employs robust security protocols including end-to-end encryption, multi-factor authentication, and continuous system monitoring to detect and prevent fraudulent activity. The company also works closely with cybersecurity experts and regulatory authorities to ensure top-tier protection.

The public is advised to disregard misinformation and rely only on official MTN and Mobile Money Limited communication channels. Customers are also reminded never to share sensitive information such as PINs, passwords, or OTPs through phone calls or messages.

For assistance or accurate information, MTN customers are encouraged to contact the toll-free customer care line at 100.
