Muslim youth want alleged LGBTQI+ office at East Legon shut down

A group calling itself Muslim Youth for Peace is calling on the security agencies and government to collaborate and shut down a house allegedly being used as a center to promote Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex (LGBTQI) activities in the country.

Speaking to the press , the spokesperson of the group, Mr. Saaka Salia indicated that they (Group) have conducted their investigations and it has revealed that, the said building is now the  Headquarters of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex (LGBTQI) activities in the country.

“Through our investigation, we found that it was true the building was being used as an office to promote acts frowned upon by our laws and we are calling on the police to act swiftly” he added.

He said not only must the office be closed down, but the persons involved must be arrested  to face the laws of the country.

He accused the international community in Ghana of promoting an act that is foreign to Ghanaian customs and traditions and violates the state’s sovereignty.

The alleged office is located in a serene environment  at Shiashie in the Ayawaso  West-Wougon constituency in the Greater Accra Region. It has inscriptions like “Love is Love”, “Community is Everything  and “vibration” among others.

Mr. Salia added that the activists were actively recruiting, training, and initiating a large number of young people in the heinous act.

He stated that the group will continue to advocate until the security agencies entirely close the office.

He urged members of Congress to swiftly move and implement comprehensive legislation to effectively address the problem.
