President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Albert Dwumfour has asserted that nation-building is a collective responsibility.
Speaking on the topic: “Media Integrity And Nation Building” at The End-Of-Year Networking Congress Of West Africa Nobles Forum (Wanf) on Thursday 23rd November 2023 At Holiday Inn Hotel In Accra, Mr. Dwumfour said “Media integrity and nation-building, must be embraced as a collective responsibility, that must be shouldered and directed by not just the GJA, and other affiliate Associations in the subregion, journalists, or media owners, but also state institutions responsible for holding practitioners accountable”
He added that nation-building must also be a shared responsibility between citizens with strong voices on one hand, and media practitioners on the other hand, all making frantic efforts to sustain the gains made in the media landscape.
Mr Dwumfour also said the media must work towards improving the quality of professionalism and efficiency of media management in general within the subregion.
“President General, permit me to quote Nobel Peace Prize winner and civil rights activist, Dr. Martin Luther King Junior, who said, “We need leaders not in love with money, but in love with justice, not in love with publicity, but in love with humanity.”
This quote amplifies the voices of many and perhaps serves as the ultimate goal of the topic under consideration and above all, summarizes our quest to promote integrity in leadership and nation-building”, he said.
