NCA to deactivate 11 million unregistered sim cards

Joe Anokye, the director general of the National Communications Authority (NCA), has stated  that the organization will deactivate more than eleven million unregistered Sim cards after May 31, 2023.

According to him, it is now necessary to deactivate such unregistered sim cards in accordance with the Ministry of Communications’ directive.

However, sim cards belonging to diplomats and Ghanaians performing national duties outside the country will not be deactivated.

Joe Anokye  made the statement at a Press Briefing organized by the National Communication Authority in Accra yesterday

He also urged Ghanaians and non-Ghanaians residing in the country to register their Sim cards by May 31, 2023, to avoid losing them.

To avoid having their Sim cards revoked, Joe Anokye added, individuals without a Ghana Card must provide evidence that they do not possess one.

Touching on the canceled MTN Zone bundle, the NCA boss noted that  MTN violated their regulations, but implied that the company will likely reintroduce the Zone Bundle after resubmitting an application to reinstate the service.
