NDC communicator blasts election committee over long voting hours

A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Gabby Asumeng, has chastised the party’s election committee for poorly organizing the 9th National Delegates Congress.

The Congress, which is being held at the Fantasy Dome of the Trade Fair Centre in LA, has been described as the longest.  About 9000   delegates cast their ballot to elect a new set of executives to run the party for the next four years.

Voting began on Saturday afternoon but ended around 10 am on Sunday, raising questions about the organizational skills of the current executives. “Sorting out and
Counting” were being done as at press time (12:30 Sunday)

Some party members, particularly delegates from the Brong Ahafo Region threatened to boycott voting due to the long delay and poor accommodation

Speaking with Atinka TV’s Bernard Luv at the congress grounds, Gabby Asumeng blamed the party’s internal election committee for the poor organization the event.

According to him, the organizers should have anticipated the large number of delegates and made adequate preparations to accommodate them.
