Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer for the 2024 general elections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing the governing party of failing to deliver on its key campaign promises.
Speaking after filing his nomination to contest in the NPP’s presidential primaries, Dr. Bawumia described the NDC’s campaign pledges as “lofty” and unrealistic, stating that the party’s commitments to Ghanaians are already proving to be unachievable.
Dr. Bawumia cited several examples, including the NDC’s pledge to pay cocoa farmers a minimum of GH₵6,000, repeal Legislative Instrument (LI) 2462 to combat illegal mining, and create massive employment through the proposed 24-hour economy. According to him, these promises are either being rolled back or remain unfulfilled.
He also used the platform to call for unity within the NPP as the party gears up for its internal presidential primaries. Dr. Bawumia urged fellow aspirants to avoid internal attacks and instead direct their efforts toward challenging the performance of the ruling NDC.
