Nima First Citizens Foundation Condemns Burning of 7-Year-Old Girl in Mamobi

The Nima First Citizens Foundation (NFCF) has expressed strong condemnation and deep concern over the alleged burning of a seven-year-old girl by her caretaker in Mamobi, Accra.

According to a statement issued by the Foundation October 30, 2025, the young girl reportedly suffered burns to her private part after her caretaker allegedly set fire to her as punishment for bedwetting — an act that has drawn widespread outrage from the community.

The Foundation commended Mallam Razak of Pigfarm and several youth in the area for taking swift action to ensure the case was reported to the police for prosecution.

“We applaud the youth of the community for their swift action in ensuring the accused was not granted bail and was instead taken back to the police station for prosecution,” said Chief Mustafa Sawaba of the Nima First Citizens Foundation. “This kind of community-driven initiative sends a strong message against criminal acts and promotes a safer environment.”

The NFCF emphasized that protecting children from abuse and creating a secure community environment must be a collective responsibility. It urged continued vigilance and collaboration between residents, civil society, and law enforcement agencies to prevent such acts of cruelty.

The Foundation concluded by calling for justice for the victim and greater public awareness around child protection issues.

The statement was signed by Abdullai Haruna, President of the Nima First Citizens Foundation.
