Over 67 Members of Parliament of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have today Thursday,19th June,2025 called on Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia at his private office to pledge their support for him ahead of the January 2026 presidential primaries.
Their visit comes after the National Council on Tuesday,17th June 2025 following a crucial meeting announced that the party’s presidential primaries have been officially scheduled for January 31, 2026.
Among them is the Member of Parliament of Akuapem North, Enerst Kumi, MP for Akwatia, Lawyer Issac Boamah-Nyarko-MP for Effia, Lawyer Nana Agyei Baffour- MP-Manhyia South, Dr. Kingsley Agyemang-MP for Akim Abuakwa South among others.
Some of the MP’s after the meeting told the media that they are supporting Dr. Bawumia’s bid because they believe in his vision and leadership.
Dr. Bawumia’s leadership and vision for Ghana have brought the party together, with many MPs and supporters rallying behind him.
As the party prepares for the 2028 general election, unity and support from key figures will be crucial in achieving the party’s goal of rescuing power from the current government.
Dr. Bawumia in 2023 contested the party’s presidential primaries, where he garnered 118,210 votes representing 61.47% of the total votes cast.
