President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says he is not in any position to decide who becomes the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He added the delegates will decide on who becomes the flagbearer of the NPP.
The President made this statement when he was asked about his expectations in the flagbearer elections after casting his ballot.
“I will not decide, it is the people who will decide,” he responded.
The NPP’s Presidential election to elect a flagbearer for the party is currently under way at 277 polling centres across the country.
Over 200,000 delegates are voting in the exercise which is expected to end at 3:00pm.
Member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto and former MP for Mampong Francis Addai-Nimoh are the contenders for the elections.
