Trobu Constituency in the Greater Accra Region is set to be one of the hotly contested seats in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries.
The ruling NPP has set April 25, 2020 as the date for parliamentary primaries in constituencies with sitting MPs and Trobu will be one of the hotly contested seats in the Greater Accra Region.
The siting MP for the area is Moses Anim, who is also the Deputy Majority Whip in Parliament. He polled 48,948 representing 64.33% in the 2016 election as against Candidate Akufo-Addo’s 50,916 representing 66.77%.
Moses Anim was also the MP for Trobu-Amasaman before it was split into two constituencies;Trobu and Amasaman.
However, there appears to be increasing calls for change as people are of the view that, Mr Anim has not lived up to expectation over the years as MP, paving way for a more credible and results-oriented leader.
One of the people hoping to unseat the current MP is Mr Kingsley Kwame Nsiah-Poku, an experienced politician and a competent professional.
He recently picked his nomination forms and hopes to give the current MP a good run for his money.
Mr Nsiah-Poku is a consummate politician who brings so much political and professional experience to the table.
He is an Animal Scientist by profession and was once the Hatchery Manager for Afariwaa Farms.
Mr Nsiah-Poku has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over three decades and was once the Accra Branch Manager for Kinapharma Limited, Proprietor and Manager for Kindchem Pharmacy Limited in Accra and Officer in Charge of the Kotoka International Airport, for the Food and Drugs Authority as well as Officer in Charge of Food at the Tema Port.
He later became the Central Regional Director for the FDA and the Special Assistant to a former Energy Minister.
Meanwhile, Mr Nsiah-Poku is optimistic that come April 25, 2020, the Deputy Majority Whip will be floored by him with a reasonable vote margin.
