Ofaakor shootings: “Gunmen fired indiscriminately into crowd” – Victim

A victim of  the Kasoa Ofaakor shoot-out, Felix Adzinor, has revealed that the gunmen who stormed the Ofaakor Palace started firing into the crowd as soon as they got there.
Four people were  injured after gunmen stormed the Palace of Kasoa Ofaakor last Saturday.
Over 20 shots were fired  into the crowd gathered at the Kasoa Ofaakor for the funeral of the late Akyeamehene of Kasoa Ofankor, Nana Kojo Amoashie.
The shoot-out happened when the families of the deceased were preparing to perform the final rites to enable them bury the late Akyeamehene of Odupong Ofaakor.
Speaking in an interview with host of Atinka FM’s AM Drive with host, Ekourba Gyasi, a victim of the tragedy who sustained injuries due to gunshots, Felix Adzinor, explained that they were gathered at the Palace to perform the rituals when they saw gun men approaching the Palace amidst chants and ammunitions.
He explained that they started firing into the crowd as soon as they got there without uttering a word.
“I am a surveyor for one of the Chiefs so I also graced the funeral. The shootout happened at the Palace and not the funeral grounds. The gunshots hit my ear. I have, however, been discharged from the hospital,” he said.
He said those who sustained serious injuries are still receiving treatment at the Kasoa Polyclinic and Winneba Trauma and Specialist separately.
Five persons have since been picked up by the Kasoa Divisional Police Patrol team for interrogations.
