Ofosu Ampofo and Kwaku Boaheng granted bail of Gh₡100,000 each

The Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC, Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and the Deputy National Communications Officer of the NDC, Mr Kwaku Boahen have been granted a bail of Gh₡100,000 each with one surety of a conspiracy to cause harm.

The two appeared in court on Tuesday, April, 16, 2019, to answer charges arising out of the contents of a leaked tape which was purported to be their voice.

They had been charged for conspiracy to harm and assault against a public officer.

The prosecution team was represented by Attorney General Gloria Akuffo and her Deputy Joseph Dindiok-Kpemka as against the defence counsels representing Mr. Ofosu Ampofo; Tony Lithur and Dominic Ayine.

On the other hand, Mr. Boahen had Dr. Basit Aziz, Edudzi Tamakloe and Baba Jamal representing him.

They were accompanied by party bigwigs including Former President John Mahama, General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia, and Joyce Bawa, who threw their massive support for accused in such a ‘trying’ time.

Taking their plea in court one of the Accra High Court, the two pleaded not guilty to the two charges with 3 counts against them.
Presided over Justice Samuel Asiedu, a High court judge, the case was adjourned to Monday 6th May 2019.

Meanwhile, Justice Samuel Asiedu directed the Atourney General to furnish the accused with all the relevant documents to study for a speedy trial on the said date.
