Over 5000 job seekers patronise YEA’s Job and Career Fair (VIDEO)

Thousands of Ghanaian youth in Accra on Thursday stormed the Accra International Conference Centre to participate in the maiden edition of the YEA Job and Career fair.

The event forms part of measures by the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) to reduce unemployment among Ghanaian youth by providing a platform that connects employers to job seekers.

Over 5,000 unemployed youth, with banking, security, catering, marketing, and other backgrounds patronized the fair to seek jobs from all sectors with over 100 employers mounting their stands to exhibit vacancies in their establishments.

Some of the participants were excited for the platform, but prayed their CVs meet the standards of the various Human Resource Managers.

Some HR Mangers were also excited for the platform as they were able to Educate the Youth on some negative perceptions they have about some sectors.

“Some of them thought Zoomlion was only about waste collection. After taking them through some of the things we do, they are now showing interest” – Eric Osei Annor, Human Resource Manager of  Zoomlion Ghana Company Limited told Atinkaonline.com

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency, Lydia Atiemo, said the programme will be extended to other parts of the country and that there was no need for interested persons to travel down to Accra.

She, therefore, urged employers to create space for the youth and asked participants to exercise patience for the various firms they sent their CVs to .
