Five reasons she won’t tell you about her boyfriend

More often than not guys in particular feel that ladies who do not want to talk about their boyfriends or their relationship in general are cheats, but this is always not the case. When you really get close to that person, you will definitely see reasons why she will not disclose her ‘boyfriend’ to you.

Here are some possible reasons why a lady will never talk to a guy about her boyfriend or her relationship.

  1. Most ladies usually want to keep their relationships as private as possible. We all got that one friend who will never want to share her relationship status with her friends not even the name of her boyfriend. Yeah, it is that serious.
  2. A lady facing challenges in her current relationship will not want to discuss her boyfriend or her relationship to any guy that comes close. Every ‘new guy’ is a potential boy, no lady would want to miss that opportunity especially where there is evidence of a possible heartbreak. NO WAY!!!!
  3. Likeness can also be a major reason why a lady will never talk to you about her boyfriend. It is not wrong to ‘like’ someone, and like how guys admire ladies, it is the same way that ladies also admire guys. For instance, if a lady is crushing on a guy, so to speak, and fortunately that guy approaches the lady, there is no way she is going to tell him about her boyfriend, HELL NO!!. In such a situation, her boyfriend has got no business in there.
  4. The fear of losing a much cherished friendship will be a reason for a lady not disclosing her relationship to a guy. We all have that ‘close opposite sex friend’ that we talk to when we have problems in our relationships. We tend to develop strong relationship ties with such people, not necessarily sexual, and so disclosing your relationship status to him will be ‘Some way bi’. Some things are better off unsaid.
  5. Most ladies in “long distance relationships do not want to talk to guys about their boyfriends. It’s more of ‘I don’t know what he is doing over there’ and hence when a guy approaches her, it will be very difficult for her to talk about her boyfriend to that guy.

Rawlings does not listen to wise counsel – Victor Smith

Former Ghana High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, Victor Smith, has accused  his  former boss, Jerry John Rawlings of not paying heed to wise counsel given him by his peers.

Former President Jerry John Rawlings is noted for his blunt criticism and swift response to issues. The current incident was when he criticized former President Mahama for continuously keeping him waiting at functions.

Rawlings, who was speaking at the 36th anniversary of the 31st December 1981 revolution in Ho, expressed his disappointment in the fact  that official programmes are held up in wait for Mr. Mahama before commencement.

“He has not learnt the lesson of how not to be late for functions. Each time they keep me waiting just because of him. Ladies and gentlemen, don’t worry he will learn it,” he said.

Speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, Victor Smith stated that,  Mr. Rawlings has resorted to bluntly throwing undeserving comments at peers meant to disrespect them.

According to Victor Smith, the former President’s utterances are appalling, adding that there are several decent ways of expressing frustrations at issues and situations.

He stated that, it  was  obvious that the former President does not listen to wise counsel offered him by people around give him.

“Former President Jerry John Rawlings is the only President who uses public platforms to chastise and ridicule people, even his party people. He has attained the position of a head master who only chastises but refuses to be chastised,” he charged.

GPHA makes GHC140 million profit after tax in 2017

The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, (GPHA) made giant strides in its operations in 2017, particularly in the areas of vessels and Cargo handling, prompting the authority to improve significantly on the 2016 performance.

The Director General of GPHA, Paul Ansah Asare, speaking at the end -of -year get- together with the press in Tema over the weekend, said the authority handled more and bigger vessels in 2017 compared to 2016, translating into more tonnages reflecting in revenue accruing for the state.

Mr. Asare noted that GPHA handled 1,850 vessels last year as against 1,830 in 2016, though it was not able to hit the target of 1,900.

The authority, he continued exceeded its target of 20 million tonnages by handling 21 million tonnes of Cargo last year, compared to 19 million tonnes done in the year 2016. These translate into realizing 1.1 billion Ghana Cedis in 2017 compared to 1 billion in 2016.

The GPHA boss added that the Authority made a profit of 140 million Ghana Cedis after honouring its tax obligation, as against 56 million Ghana Cedis realized in 2016. He therefore reaffirmed the GPHA's commitment to continuing and executing all projects at both ports especially expansion works to position the Sea ports potential enough to handle any increased volume and pressure in the next 50 years.

Mr. Asare further stated that GPHA in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority will take advantage of Tema, being at the center of the earth, to raise tourism to an unprecedented level by constructing a cruise and passenger terminal at the Tema Port.

He emphasized that the Takoradi Port will continue to support the Oil &Gas, commercial and the Integrated Bauxite Industry, saying a container multipurpose terminal is already being constructed to that effect.

The GPHA DG however attributed the successes achieved in the just ended year partly to the massive support of the Tema media who he referred to as the mirror through whom the corporate personality of the government organization reflects to the world.

He therefore promised stronger ties in the years ahead, calling on the media to call their attention when they  go wrong ,especially in the area of policy direction

Pregnant schoolgirls arrested in Tanzania

Child rights activists in Tanzania have criticised the arrest of five pregnant schoolgirls and their parents over the weekend.

The teenagers were arrested in Tandahimba, northern Tanzania, on the orders of a local district commissioner and later released on bail.

Gender and child rights campaigners are quoted by The Citizen news site as saying the authorities would have arrested the men who caused the pregnancy rather than the victims.

Local authorities are looking for the men who impregnated the girls, according to Mohamed Azizi, a district official quoted by the news site.

Mr Azizi is also reported as saying that the arrest is part of wider efforts to end student pregnancies in the area, where 55 schoolgirls have reportedly become pregnant over the past two years.

Teenage pregnancy has become a focus for politicians of late.

Last year, Tanzania's President John Magufuli was condemned for comments that girls who give birth should not be allowed to return to school.

Robomart is the latest startup to try and unseat the local convenience store

The startup assault on the humble neighborhood store continues to intensify.

First came Bodega, the terribly named, and mostly misguidedstartup with its mission to bring the non-perishable necessities available at the corner store to the masses and “disrupt” the corner store.

Now there’s Robomart, which wants to bring the groceries, baked goods and prepared foods of the supermarket aisle to your doorstep with a white-labeled service for wholesalers and big box retailers.

The culmination of a ten-year vision from founder Ali Ahmed, Robomart is an autonomous grocery store department on wheels.

Robomart is the serial entrepreneur’s latest startup. Ahmed, who first conceived of the rolling grocery store concept while an employe at Unilever ten years ago, went on to found LuteBox, which was around the social sharing of media content.

From LuteBox, the London-based entrepreneur moved on to the now-defunct Dispatch, a competitor to the U.S.-based on-demand concierge services like Magic, which pitched a bespoke service where users could — for a fee — get almost anything their hearts desired (but you couldn’t get a tiger).

At its height, Dispatch had 1500 deliverers and the company received the most orders from folks who wanted grocery deliveries (this was in the early days of on-demand before Instacart, etc. had brought grocery delivery to the masses).

After investors bought Ahmed out of Dispatch, the entrepreneur moved to Santa Clara, Calif. to start Robomart.

“I believe we’re creating a new category,” Ahmed says. “We think we’re competing with the sidewalk robots.” In fact, Ahmed seems to be competing with the corner store — which offers the same fractional amount of goods with the argument of proximity and convenience.

Just as sidewalk robots are being met with friction in California, Robomart also expects to face some tough hurdles.Traffic and parking are probably the biggest among them.

And while Ahmed argued that his autonomous delivery vehicles could be purchased by a collective of local stores to compete with big box retailers (or wholesalers who are looking to go direct) — those companies are the more likely customers.
Customers would license the platform, vehicle and all, on a 24 month lease. “It’s significantly cheaper than setting up a new store,” Ahmed said. “And customers can shop for goods without pre-ordering.”

Interiors come equipped with either a refrigeration or heating system, and Ahmed says he’s talked to wholesalers about equipping separate trucks to mimic different sections of a grocery aisle — from dairy, to poultry, to meat, to vegetables.

A final benefit for retailers, Ahmed said, is that grocers and other retailers who license the technology will retain all of the customer information rather than giving it away to Uber, Postmates, Instacart or others.

The company, part of Nvidia’s inception program and a graduate of the Archetype incubator and consulting program, is in the process of building out prototypes through partnerships with Corbin, the once heralded — then humiliated — developer of a prototype electric vehicle in 1996,and Hevo Power. a wireless charging startup for electric vehicles which has yet to deliver a product to market (although Hevo Power has reportedly installed prototypes at Google’s super secret self-driving car headquarters in the California desert).

Those are not the partners that instill the most confidence in an operation’s success, but Ahmed insists that he’s in discussions with food wholesalers and big box retailers on the development of vehicles for the road.

When they’re rolled out, Ahmed claims that they’ll be fully autonomous. The company aims to license the technology to grocery stores — providing them with the Robomart vehicle, a wireless charging device (courtesy of Hevo Power) and an autonomous fleet management and on-demand ordering system designed by Robomart’s team of three engineers (all of whom have been with Ahmed since LuteBox).

“Longevity of 4th Republic to the credit of Ghanaians” – Akufo-Addo

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, says the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the 4th Republic is to the great credit of the Ghanaian people, the ordinary men and women who make up the fabric of the Ghanaian nation.

According to President Akufo-Addo, 25 years ago, the Ghanaian people resolved to build, under God, a united nation, grounded in democratic values and the rule of law, and, largely, have gone a long way towards realising it.

President Akufo-Addo made this known on Sunday, 7th January, 2018, at the Independence Square, at an inter-faith thanksgiving service held to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of the establishment of the 4th Republic.

It will be recalled that the Constitution of the 4th Republic came into force, and the 4th Republic duly inaugurated on 7th January, 1993, i.e. its Silver Jubilee.

The Constitution became effective, following the decision of the Ghanaian people, given in overwhelming numbers, to adopt it as the fundamental law of the land in the Referendum of 28th April, 1992. The vote was three million, four hundred and eight thousand, one hundred and nineteen (3,408,119), representing 92.59%, in favour, with two hundred and seventy two thousand, eight hundred and fifty five (272,855) against, i.e. a mere 7.41%.

The 4th Republic was, thus, promulgated with immense, popular backing, and, on 7th January, 1993, His Excellency Jerry John Rawlings was sworn into office as the 1st President of the 4th Republic.

It is for this reason that President Akufo-Addo commended the erstwhile Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC), the 1991 Consultative Assembly, the Movement for Freedom and Justice (MFJ), the pro-democracy organisations, civil society and religious bodies, whose collective efforts and agitations led to the birth of the 4th Republic.

He also paid tribute to Parliament, under the leadership of successive Right Honourable Speakers – Justice D.F. Annan, Peter Ala Adjetey, Ebenezer Sekyi Hughes, Justice Joyce Bamford-Addo, Edward Doe Adjaho, and, currently, Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye – for growing stronger in stature, and in its contribution to good governance.

“In ensuring that the commitment made twenty five years ago to embark on the journey of multiparty democracy resounds strongly, one of the most important actors in the preservation of this has been the Judiciary,” he said.

The President continued, “Today, I pay tribute to their Lordships Philip Archer, I.K. Abban, E.K. Wiredu, George Acquah, Georgina Wood, and, the incumbent, Sophia Akuffo, the Chief Justices of the 4th Republic, who have ensured, and are still ensuring that the Judiciary plays its role as the defender of the rights and liberties of the people, and as an independent arbiter, which aims to inspire confidence in the citizenry.”

President Akufo-Addo also remembered with with gratitude the contribution of the Council of State, under its various leaders, in helping to steer the ship of state to this happy day, and also to past and current officials in the public service, and to the active and retired members of the security services – the Armed Forces, the Police Service, the Fire Service, the Immigration Service, the Prisons Service – who have played their part in helping to preserve the security and the stability of Ghana.

“This survey cannot be complete without mention of the Electoral Commission (EC), National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), political parties, trades unions, civil society organisations, traditional authorities and religious bodies in the success of the 4th Republic,” he added.

Philippe Coutinho says he is excited at the prospect of playing alongside his "idols" as his protracted big-money move to Barcelona nears completion.

Liverpool agreed to sell the midfielder to the La Liga leaders on Saturday, for a fee Sky Sports News understands to be £146m.

Coutinho, briefly presented to the media at a photocall on Sunday, is expected to complete a two-part medical on Monday before performing a ceremonial signing of his contract ahead of a photo shoot on the pitch and a press conference.

"I'm very happy, very happy," Coutinho, who watched Barcelona's 3-0 league victory over Levante at the Nou Camp, told Barca TV.

"I have always said that it is a dream that I am living and I am very happy to be here.
"To be able to play, win titles, make the fans happy… always play with joy. It is incredible to know that I am going to live with idols, players with a lot of history.

"Hi Barca fans. I am already here, it is a dream come true, and I hope to see you tomorrow," Coutinho said.

“Ghana’s best days lie ahead of us” – Akufo-Addo

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is confident that with a spirit of reconciliation, fairness, integrity and hard work, the best days of Mother Ghana lie ahead of us.

According to President Akufo-Addo, “our goal has to be constant – to fulfil the hopes and aspirations of Ghanaians, who yearn for improvements in their living standards, in conditions of peace, security and solidarity, and to put Ghana onto the path to sustained progress and prosperity.”

“We can hope for a brighter future, because we are blessed with enormous wealth and human potential.”

President Akufo-Addo made this known on Sunday, 7th January, 2018, at the Independence Square, at an inter-faith thanksgiving service held to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of the establishment of the 4th Republic.

With the country experiencing the longest, uninterrupted period of stable, constitutional governance in our history, he stated that this period has banished the spectre of instability that disfigured the early years of Ghana’s existence, and the benefits are showing.

Cataloguing some of the benefits, the President noted that Ghana has witnessed sustained growths in the size of the economy; rising levels of per capita real incomes; systematic expansion of the private sector; and taken strong measures to try to protect our lands, water bodies and environment from the menace of environmental degradation.

Additionally, over the last 25 years, efforts to meet the most basic elements of social justice, i.e. education from kindergarten through to secondary school, and accessible healthcare to all our citizens, are ongoing.

The President indicated further that the under the 4th Republic, media freedom has been entrenched; attachment to the rule of law, probity and accountability, respect for individual liberties, human rights, the principles of democratic accountability and social justice have been deepened; and an environment in which government and regulatory policies attempt to enhance, rather than inhibit or frustrate, trade, commerce and investments is being created.

Democracy, equality of opportunity and respect for human rights, ideals which have stood the test of time, President Akufo-Addo said, have now found firm anchor in the country’s body politic.

This, he added, is evidenced in the election of 5 Presidents in the history of this Republic, and “even when there was disagreement with the outcome of an election, it was the Supreme Court, rather than the streets, that determined its result.”

Despite all these gains, the President indicated that Ghana has not reached the potential she should have.

“The biggest challenge we face continues to be eradicating widespread poverty. We still have challenges in the performance of our public services; we face threats, traditional and contemporary, to our nation’s security and social stability, in the form of chieftaincy conflicts, land disputes, ethnic conflicts, vigilantism, cyber security issues, youth unemployment, economic hardships, and corruption in our public life,” he said.

In addressing these challenges, the President told the gathering that “we have begun to take a deep look at the structure of our economy, and transform it, from a raw material producing and exporting one to a value-added, industrialised economy, with a modernised agriculture, to serve better our needs.”

He continued, “The era of Ghana’s industrialisation has dawned, so that we can trade in the global marketplace, not on the basis of raw materials, but on the basis of things we make, inspired by our sense of enterprise, creativity and innovation. It is the most effective way we can generate jobs and wealth for the masses of our people, and join the ranks of the developed, prosperous nations of the world.”

With Ghana’s obligation to the unity and integration of the region and continent remaining, President Akufo-Addo stressed that achieving functioning, common regional and continental markets will help consolidate the process of structural transformation of our economy, on which we are engaged, and will, thus, help open up the space for accelerated development.
