Bawumia is public property; we deserve to know what's wrong with him– Inusah Fuseni

Former Minister of Lands and Forestry and Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale Central, Ahaji Inusah Fuseini, says Vice President Bawumia is a public property and that Ghanaians deserve to know his health status.

The presidency on Saturday  announced that , Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia had been flown to the UK for further medical treatment after he was reported unwell Friday.

The statement signed by the Chief of Staff, Frema Osei-Opare, said the Vice-President is on medical leave upon advice by his doctors.

However,  speaking  on  Atinka Midday News Monday, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini, stated that the president as well as the vice president belong to the state. According to him, there are equally good health facilities in the country and so  "the vice president  flying  outside the country for medical observation means a lot."

“It is quite worrying that Korle-bu, KATH and all the big hospitals could not observe the vice President. He is a public property and his general wellbeing is our concern”, he added.

EOCO clears EC top officers

0

It has emerged that the three top officers accused of misappropriating GHC480,177.87 of the Endowment Fund of Staff of Electoral Commission (EC) have been cleared by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO).

Georgina Opoku-Amankwaah, Deputy Commissioner in-charge of Finance and Administration; Kwaku Owusu Agyei-Larbi, Chief Accountant and Joseph Kwaku Asamoah, Finance Officer, were hounded out of office by the EOCO on the instructions of the EC chairperson, Charlotte Osei, over the alleged malfeasance, and their continuous absence from office is beginning to raise eyebrows since nothing was found against any of them.

Recently, Ms Opoku-Amankwaah, frustrated by alleged manipulation of the EOCO investigation, defied the ‘stay at home’ order and returned to work only for the anti-graft body to chase her out.

She said she was tired of the embarrassment being visited on her by her continued interdiction and decided to resume work, saying that under the law it is only the President of the Republic who can send her packing.

However, the EOCO officers said they were still investigating the alleged misappropriation of the EC’s Endowment Funds, even though at that time the investigation was said to be over.

AG’s Report

Daily Guide has sighted an official report from the Attorney General’s Department indicating that the affected officers might not have anything to do with the alleged malfeasance and that it is rather two others who could be charged, if there was any action to be taken in the matter.

The report, dated January 10, 2018, indicates that the focus of the EOCO investigation was on Samuel Yorke Aidoo, the then Director of Finance, as well as Ishmael Pensah, a former Chief Accountant, who no longer works with the EC.

In fact, the title of the docket, which reads, ‘The Republic vrs Samuel Yorke Aidoo and Ishmael Pensah, shows that the affected officers were mere witnesses in the whole matter and Mrs Osei is captured as the officer who had filed the complaint before the EOCO.

The said report to the EOCO, signed by Evelyn D. Keelson, a Chief State Attorney, on behalf of the AG, concludes, “we are of the view that until a comprehensive audit is conducted into the Endowment Fund of the staff of the Electoral Commission, it will be difficult to firmly establish the commission of any malfeasance.”

10 signs you are having an emotional affair

0

Having a physical affair is wrong in so many ways. But what happens when you have an emotional affair and how do you even know you’re having one?

If you’ve ever had to tell your partner that you’re “just friends” with another member of the opposite gender and you KNOW you’ve never been physical with them, you need to ask yourself whether or not you could actually be having an emotional affair here. Just because our friendship/relationship with someone who isn’t our partner hasn’t yet got sexual, it doesn’t mean that we’re not guilty of having an affair of the emotional sort. Sometimes, the warning signs are obvious: We go to the other person first, when we need to talk. We start planning things with them in our heads. Hey, we might even start to imagine what it would have been like, had we got with them instead of our partner. However, the signs aren’t always so obvious. Let’s take a look at 10 reasons you might be having an emotional affair.

You’d Be Embarrassed If Your Partner Saw Your Conversations

When we converse with our friends via text, we can get a bit rude, a bit gossipy and maybe even a bit naughty (not in that way!). But we draw the line at having conversations that we’d hate our partner to see. In fact, the only conversations we wouldn’t want our partner to see are usually about them. For example, we might be raising concerns about our relationship or talking about their bad habits! However, if you’ve been having conversations with a friend that would make you mortified if your partner ever saw them, because of their risqué content, then you’re playing with fire. If your partner saw them, how would they react? Would they be upset? If you know deep down that you shouldn’t be having certain types of conversations, it’s a sign that you’re involved in an emotional affair.

You Dress To Impress Someone Else

If you’re in a happily committed relationship with someone you both love and fancy, that person should be the only one you want to dress to impress. Sure, there’ll be evenings out, conferences and cocktails with the girls where you want to look nice, but when it comes to the opposite sex, there should be only one person whose eye you want to catch. If, however, you’ve recently been getting all dolled up for someone else, you need to question your intentions. Why are you trying so hard to impress them? Do you see them as more than a friend? Do you want something else? Making an effort to look nice is fine. But trying to impress a specific member of the opposite gender, who isn’t your partner, is something else altogether.

Your Partner Has Raised Concerns

If your partner has gone as far as questioning your friendship with this other person, you need to take their concerns seriously. Clearly something isn’t right.

You Seek Alone Time With Someone Else

Alone time is key to a happy relationship. We all want to spend one-on-one time with our partner, cuddling in bed or cozying up to a TV show. But what does it mean when you start seeking alone time with someone else? It’s not a good sign. In fact, it’s a pretty huge sign that you’re having an emotional affair.

You Text A LOT

We all have friends of the opposite gender who we text, chat to on social media and perhaps even email. But we know there are boundaries and we tend to know when too much texting becomes unacceptable and just plain wrong. If you know deep down that you text a LOT, then there’s clearly something up. The only person you should be texting a lot is your partner. If your inbox with another guy is stuffed, it’s another massive sign that you’ve got an emotional affair going on here.

You Fantasise About Them

Okay, we know that everyone – even those in otherwise happy relationships – have fantasies. It’s normal to fantasise. But it’s not okay or normal to fantasise about another guy who we know well. Fantasising about a friend when we’re supposedly in a loving relationship is taboo and another huge sign that somethings not right. If you’ve genuinely spent time wondering how they kiss or what it would be like to sleep with them, you need to stop and think about what’s going on here.

They Get You

Your partner used to “get” you. That’s why you got together with him in the first place. But now you’re starting to think someone else gets you. They get your quirks, your habits, they share your sense of humour and even finish off your sentences. There’s a certain synergy going on that’s kinda weird but feels right. In which case, it’s probably very wrong.

You Share In Jokes

If the two of you share in jokes that no one else would get, it’s another sign that you’re involved in an emotional affair here. Maybe you’ve created memes together that only you two would laugh at. If so, it’s kinda a bad sign that something isn’t right in your relationship. In jokes? They’re for best friends and our partners. They’re not really for other members of the opposite sex.

You’ve Started To Delete Texts Incase Your Partner Sees Them

If you feel the need to delete a text incase your partner sees it, what do you think that means? From an outsiders perspective, it suggests that you know you’re being a bit naughty. Once you start hiding stuff from your partner, especially conversations with other guys, it’s a surefire sign that somethings going on.

You Wish Your Partner Was More Like Them

This one is a pretty big telltale sign of an emotional affaire. If things have got to the point where you’re actually wishing your partner was more like someone else, it’s time for you to decide who you should really be with. Otherwise, things are just going to get more and more messier, because you’re now involved in an emotional affair.

Stay happy!

Help fix CCTV cameras at every police station –Irbard begs Ghanaians

0

Security expert, Irbard Ibrahim, has advocated for the installation of CCTV cameras at every police station in the country.

His call follows the raid on the Kwabenya Police station by some unidentified gun men on Sunday. The death resulted in the death of Police Inspector.

In a statement, Mr Irbard  urged Ghanaians to come together in groups to adopt a police station in their area by purchasing surveillance cameras for the station.

Below is the full statement:

“ I have received with great shock the brazen attack on our gallant men and women in uniform serving on the frontline to keep us and the Republic of Ghana safe.
I condemn the armed attack in Kwabenya and call on the IGP to improve the security conditions of police men and women around the country.

It is a great surprise that police stations that should be seen as sanctuaries of safety for citizens lack basic gadgets like surveillance cameras.
I call on Ghanaians to come together in groups to adopt a police station in their area by purchasing surveillance cameras for the station.

Ghana’s security bosses should improve the working conditions of police officers by providing better insurance, remuneration, contract restaurants to provide ration to night patrol teams and checkpoints, provide tasers and other operation gadgets to keep them motivated.

When the ones supposed to keep us safe are themselves in danger, what does that say about the state of security in the Republic of Ghana?

Signed
Irbard Ibrahim

BoG keeps policy rate at 20 percent

0

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Bank of Ghana has maintained the policy rate at 20 percent.

The decision was announced at the media briefing to conclude the MPC’s annual meetings on Monday, January 22, 2018.

The MPC last year (2017), reduced the policy rate by 550 basis points.

In 2017, the figure went down from 25.5percent in January to 20 percent as at November 2017.

The Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Ernest Addison who addressed the media explained that the decision is to help keep inflation at a stable rate.

“Economic activity has picked up significantly while private sector credit growth is recovering, the non oil sector of the economy is also rebounding after the sluggish performance in the first half of the year, supported by continued improvement  in the economic fundamentals.”

“While there was a trend decline in headline and core inflation allowing for some 55o basis points policy rate cut the committee has observed some emerging pressures. Under the circumstances and to ensure that inflation target horizon is maintained and the medium term inflation of eight plus or minus 2 is achieved this year, the committee decided to maintain the policy rate at 20 percent,” the Governor added.

The policy rate influences the Central bank’s rate of lending to commercial banks in the country.

Some industry watchers have criticised the margin of decrease in the lending rates of commercial banks despite the significant reduction from the Bank of Ghana.

Checks by Citi Business News for instance have shown that between January 2017 and December 2017, the average lending rate among banks have decreased by about 7 percent.

Swearing in of Speaker as President unnecessary – Inusah Fuseni

0

Former Minister of Lands and Forestry under the former National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration and Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale Central, Ahaji Innusah Fuseini, has described the swearing in of Professor Mike Oquaye as interim president as unnecessary.

The Speaker of Parliament, Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye, was on Sunday sworn in as the acting President of Ghana an emergency sitting of Parliament.

The swearing in administered by the Chief Justice, Mrs. Justice Sophia Akuffo, was in conformity with the constitutional requirement, which provides for the swearing in of the Speaker in the absence of the President and the Vice President.

However, speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive Monday, Inusah Fuseini explained  that, per the provision in the constitution, an interim president is only needed when the President is incapacitated and not when the President is out of the country.

According to Inusah Fuseni, the President is only performing extra territorial activities in Liberia and in the capacity as President of Ghana.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is attending the inauguration of George Weah as President of Liberia, while Vice President Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia is on medical leave in the United Kingdom (UK).
