Ga West MCE, Mr Clement Wilkinson

The Municipal Chief Executive of Ga West Municipal Assembly, Mr Clement Wilkinson has warned hawkers and persons who intend to sell at the Pokuase interchange to stay off or face the law.

His warning comes after a man and his daughter were caught pounding and selling fufu under the newly constructed interchange.

A viral video on social media indicated that some hawkers and food vendors had settled under the Pokuase Interchange to operate a chop bar.

The vendors were arrested by the Regional Task Force for creating nuisance at unauthorised place.

Speaking on Atinka TV’s morning show, Ghana Nie, Mr Clement Wilkinson said the two who have been arrested will be sent to court and dealt with accordingly.

He said apart from the fact that the chop bar operators were exposed to vehicles, they were was also exposed to dust.

The MCE said aside them, two other persons were also arrested who had placed a mat on the floor and calling people to gamble at the same place.

He also said a pastor had his church posters at the same place, urging him to report himself to the police or face the law.

“We don’t want anyone to put posters there. No one would be allowed to put posters there,” he added.

He was of the belief that the punishment meted out to culprits will serve as deterrent to those who intend to create nuisance at the same place.

Traffic
Although the said interchange has reduced traffic from Ofankor Barrier and Pokuase, the traffic had been relocated to Amasaman.

However, he said the second phase of the construction of the Pokuase-Nsawam road will commence soon in order to also ease traffic from Amasaman.
