An investigation has been opened by the Ashanti Regional Police Command in response to a shooting death that took place at the Asawase F-Line in Kumasi, the regional capital, on the evening of Monday, July 22, 2025.
Two unidentified attackers shot and killed a middle-aged man, according to preliminary police findings, the police said in a statement. The suspects, who were both riding different motorcycles, allegedly came up close to the victim, started shooting, and then left the area.
After being taken to the Manhyia District Hospital for emergency care, the victim was later moved to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he was tragically declared dead.
Since then, the Ebenezer Mortuary in Tafo has received his body for autopsy. The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Mr. Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, along with the Regional Crime Officer, ACP Mr. Ebenezer Boyor, and a group of officers, responded to the attack by visiting the scene to evaluate the situation.
Two spent shells that were thought to have been fired from an AK-47 assault rifle were found and recorded as evidence during their examination.
In what they call a “heinous crime,” the Police Command has promised the public that every attempt is being made to find the people responsible.
“We urge members of the public to remain calm and cooperate with the Police by providing any information that could assist in the ongoing investigation,” the statement said.
Anyone with pertinent information is urged to call the emergency lines at 191, 18555, or 112. They can also contact the closest police station.
