Police investigate alleged attack on Asantehene’s convoy at Techiman

The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into an alleged attack on the convoy of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, which occurred at Techiman in the Bono East Region, on Monday, 2nd December 2024.

Preliminary Police investigation revealed that the incident occurred as the Asantehene was returning from a funeral at Nkoranza in the Bono East Region when some youth believed to be from Techiman threw stones at some buses in the convoy.

A video sighted on social media revealed some injured passengers in the bus including a young mother who had blood oozing on his face.

In a statement, the Police noted that it is in touch with Manhyia Palace in Kumasi and other stakeholders at Techiman as part of the investigation.

“We urge the public to remain calm and cooperate with the Police as the investigation into the matter continues,” it added.
