The Power and Energy Ghana Expo has officially kicked off at the Accra International Conference Centre, running from November 6 to 8, 2024.
Dubbed: ‘Power and Energy Ghana Expo 2024,’ this event brings together global manufacturers and exporters of power, energy, electrical, and engineering products to connect with partners, distributors, and customers in Ghana and West Africa.
Organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Trade & Industries, the expo is expected to attract thousands of professional visitors from the power and electrical engineering industries, with over 100 exhibitors showcasing the latest products and innovations.
Speaking at the official inauguration of the expo, the president of the Ghana Union of Traders Association, (GUTA), Dr. Joseph Obeng said there is a need to sensitize Ghanaians on energy efficiency programmes and regulations to help achieve energy efficiency. He said the expo will focus on key areas such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, and power transmission and distribution. Exhibitors will showcase cutting-edge solutions, including solar photovoltaic and energy monitoring gadgets, and decentralized power systems.
“This Expo is expected to greatly benefit Ghana’s economy in areas such as increased trade and investments, job creation, and improved energy structure”. He added.
Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, H. E. Shri Manish Gupta, who gave the keynote address said energy and power is a stepping stones in every economy. Elaborating on that, she said energy availability will boost industrial production, improve healthcare as well as enhance education. He therefore called for investment in this sector.
Giving the inaugural speech, the Chief Director for the Energy Ministry, Mrs. Wilhemina Asamoah, said the ministry has observed a considerable increase in local manufacturing output in the past 5 years. She said the ministry together with other stakeholders recognize the role the energy sector plays, govt is committed to making Ghana a beacon of sustainable energy.
“With the momentum built here, we hope to see more partnerships, innovations, and investments that contribute to our energy independence.” She added.
