Prince Sefah Condemns A-G’s Public Trials of Former Appointees

Former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) and a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Prince Sefah, has criticized the Attorney General’s decision to conduct public trials of former government appointees in the media rather than in a courtroom, calling it misguided.

According to him, this approach raises serious concerns about the integrity of the justice system and the risk of trial by media, where public perception may overshadow legal due process.

Speaking on Atinka FM’s Morning Show with host Ekow Budu Sam, Prince Sefah described the move as a deliberate attempt to tarnish the legacy of the Nana Addo-Bawumia administration in the eyes of Ghanaians.

“Holding trials in the media instead of the courtroom creates a dangerous precedent where individuals are judged based on public narratives rather than legal evidence,” – he argued.

He warned that such actions could have lasting consequences, affecting not only the lives and reputations of those involved but also eroding public trust in the justice system.

Prince Sefah further emphasized that justice must be pursued through due process, stating that the Attorney General’s approach undermines the fundamental principles of fairness and accountability.

“The justice system is built on fairness, where the accused are given the opportunity to defend themselves in court, not in the media. The Attorney General’s decision must be condemned,” –  he asserted.

His comments add to the growing debate over the handling of corruption allegations against former appointees, with concerns that political motives could overshadow legal objectivity.
