'Rambo styled' Hawa-Koomson must be arrested-CFF-GH to police

The Community Focus Foundation Ghana (CFF-GH) is calling for the arrest of the Minister of Special Development Initiave, Mavis Hawa-Koomson for firing a warning shot at the Step to Christ registration centre at Kasoa.
The MP for Awutu Senya East Constituency of the Central Region, after the incident explained that she fired the warning shot to protect herself from some thugs who tried to attack her on her way to the centre.
She also explained that she had a gun on her because at the time she went to the centre, her police escort had not reported to work since it was very early in the morning.
Despite her explanation, the CFF-GH considers the unfortunate incident very disgraceful and a dent on Ghana’s participatory democratic governance and is still calling for arrest.
In a statement, the Foundation said,”We condemn her misconduct in the strongest terms. As a Member of Parliament (MP) and a Minister of State, the best she can do is to contribute meaningfully and empower more women to take up leadership roles in pursuit of national development, but regrettably, she has betrayed the confidence reposed in her by the President of the Republic, HE Nana Addo and the Ghanaian people.”
The Foundation added that,”We are calling on the Ghana Police Service to take action and arrest Hawa Koomson to face the full rigours of the law since NO MINISTER is bigger than the laws of the state. It’s high time people in responsible positions are punished severely if they fall foul of the law irrespective of their status in society. Ghanaians are to note that without Justice, Peace cannot be guaranteed.”
