Removal of EC boss, deputies good news – Center for National Affairs

The Deputy Executive Secretary at the Center for National Affairs, a civil society group, Mr. Ibrahim Adams, has described the removal of the EC boss Charlotte Osei and her two deputies as “a step in the right direction.”

Executives of the Center for National Affairs on Monday, June 25th, 2018 reportedly petitioned the Chief Justice, Justice Sophia Akufo to expedite investigations into petitions for the removal of the chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs. Charlotte Osei and her two deputies.

Days after the group petitioned the CJ, President Akufo Addo sacked the EC boss and her two deputies- Amadu Sulley and Georgina Opoku Amankwah.

Madam Charlotte Osei, Mr. Amadu Sulley, and Ms. Georgina Opoku Amankwah were relieved off their duties with immediate effect.

Speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, Mr. Ibrahim Adams, explained that the group was satisfied with the outcome of the case.

According to him, the Electoral Commission is a delicate institution and that "corruption allegations against it should be treated with all the seriousness."

He added that the relationship that existed between these three personalities at the EC was nothing to write home about.

“We at the Center for National Affairs wanted the CJ to expedite investigations into the issue and we are happy with the outcome”, he said.
