A member of the National Communications Team of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), George Kwarteng reveals has expressed outrage over the continued freedom of Ralph Saint Williams, who allegedly attacked health workers at the Ridge Hospital.
This, according to him, confirms that the suspect Ralph, who is known to be a member of the ruling party, has the backing of the government, especially President Mahama.
George Kwarteng’s comments follow the circulation of a viral video showing relatives of a patient physically attacking medical staff at the emergency department of Ridge Hospital, sparking public outrage and renewed concern about the safety of frontline health workers.
The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), after carefully examining the situation, issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Police to arrest Ralph Saint Williams and his accomplices, warning that failure to act could lead to further action by the association.
Reacting to the request by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, Health Minister, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has revealed that some arrests have been made, yet the main suspect is still at large.
However, speaking on Atinka TV’s morning show Ghana Nie with host Bernard Lav, George Kwarteng said, Ralph’s close ties to President John Dramani Mahama have emboldened him to act with impunity, even in the face of serious allegations.
He claimed that Ralph is regarded as one of Mahama’s “daring boys,” a status which, in his view, shields him from accountability.
“It is very disturbing that someone who attacked frontline health workers is walking about freely just because he is seen as one of Mahama’s daring boys. This culture of impunity must not be tolerated in our democracy,” Kwarteng stated.
