A private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw, has jumped to the defence of Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale over latter’s faked a gun attack.
According to the popular lawyer, although the action of Shatta Wale may be considered a crime, it was an act to expose another crime.
Maurice Ampaw likened Shatta Wale’s fake shooting incident to the strategy used by ace investigator Anas Aremeyaw Anas, which he described as act to expose corruption in the country.
Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah was arrested after reporting himself for feigning a gun attack.
Reports on Monday, 18th October 2021, claimed that Shatta Wale had been shot by unknown gunmen as prophesied by a pastor popularly known as ‘Jesus Ahuofe’.
The police earlier arrested Kojo Owusu Koranteng, also known as Nana Dope and Eric Venator, alias Gangee, on Tuesday evening for allegedly spreading false information with the intention to cause fear and panic.
The arrest of the suspects is in response to the alleged circulation of false claims on the alleged gunshot attack on Shatta Wale.
Preliminary investigations by the Police revealed the widely reported gunshot attack on Shatta Wale Monday, 18th October, 2021 was a hoax.

The “Melissa” hitmaker is currently at the Police Headquaters assisting investigations.
Commenting on the issue with host Kaakyire Ofori Ayim on Atinka FM’s AM Drive, A private legal practitioner, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw noted that Shatta Wale’s fake gun attack was a well planned “something” which can be defended in court.
He noted that the attack was triggered by the prophecy by the man of God.
“ When the prophecy came, Shatta Wale came out but I think what he failed to do was to report to the Police. But I don’t fault him, the Police usually give the excuse of not meddling in spiritual affairs anytime such an incident is reported. I am sure that was why Shatta reacted the way he did,” Lawyer Maurice Ampaw told Kaakyire Ofori Ayim.
