“Side chick” vs bank manager: Court directs parties to file written submissions

An Accra High Court has asked the parties in the sexual harassment case involving a “side chick” and top bank manager to file written submissions.

Both parties are to file their written submissions before February 23, 2023.

The allegation of sexual harassment leveled against the Chief Financial Officer of First Atlantic Bank, Ernest Kwasi Nimako, was heard in the High Court in Accra today, Thursday, February 16, 2023.

Deborah Seyram Adablah, who used to work for First Atlantic Bank in Accra as part of the National Service, filed a lawsuit against Ernest Kwasi Nimako, one of the bank’s managers, for not living up to the terms of a close relationship they had.

Deborah Seyram Adablah, the plaintiff, stated in a 7-page writ of summons obtained by atinkaonline.com that she agreed to be in a relationship with Ernest Kwasi Nimako because her happiness at work would be jeopardized if she did not give in to the relationship.

The writ of summons also added that the plaintiff had turned down an opportunity to be a permanent staff member after her National Service due to the manager’s promise of making life comfortable for her by paying her rent, giving her capital for her business, giving her a new car, and marrying her after divorcing his real wife.

However, the writ stated that the manager did well in fulfilling some of his obligations until their relationship became complicated.

Deborah Seyram Adablah is demanding that the rest of the promises be fulfilled, including the payment of the remaining two-year rent as well as a change of ownership of the Honda car he bought for her as part of the promises.

The plaintiff is also suing the First Atlantic Bank for allowing senior officers to enter into relationships with unwilling subordinates while using the females as bait to get rich customers to open accounts with the company.

First Atlantic Bank, the case’s second defendant, has since requested that its name be removed from the suit “on the grounds that they disclose no reasonable cause of action against the applicant.”
