The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has announced the decision to commence fresh investigations into the banking and financial sector crisis.
Ghana was hit with a banking and financial sector crisis that led to the collapse of nine domestic banks and other financial institutions.
After the crises, experts mounted pressure on the government to prosecute officials at the central bank under the previous regime whose actions and inaction resulted in the banking failures.
In a latest development, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has issued a statement announcing the decision of his outfit to investigate crisis.
According to the statement, the OSP has commenced investigations into the banking and financial sector crisis which precipitated the collapse of some banks.
The statement added that the investigations target alleged corruption and corruption related offences perpetrated by officials of the Bank of Ghana, Banks, specialised deposit taking institutions and financial holding companies.
“The OSP invites members of the public who have knowledge of the commission of corruption or corruption related offences to lodge complaints with the office of the Special Prosecutor against any official in this regard,” excerpts of the statement added.
