The Director -General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo, has called on employers to take advantage of the digital bouquet for easy to access to social security services.
SSNIT in August 2024 unveiled its latest, tech the SSNIT Digital Bouquet. This comprehensive initiative is set to improve access to social security services across the nation, bringing convenience and efficiency to the fingertips of all Stakeholders.
The SSNIT Digital Bouquet encompasses three groundbreaking digital platforms designed to make social security services more accessible than ever before, they include The Upgraded SSNIT Website & Portal, The Enhanced USSD Service and The Brand-New SSNIT Mobile App.
Speaking at the 2024 Employers Breakfast Meeting at the La Palm Royal Beach hotel in Accra, the Director-General, SSNIT, Mr. Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo highlighted the crucial role SSNIT plays in pension schemes and reaffirmed the Trust’s dedication to providing workers with the best retirement benefits.
He emphasized SSNIT’s commitment to prudently managing its investments and operations to ensure long-term sustainability.
Addressing workers, particularly those in the informal sector, he urged them to prioritize their pension by enrolling in the SSNIT scheme and consistently contributing. He noted that doing so is essential for securing a stable and comfortable future in retirement.
Delivering a presentation on maximizing the use of digital platforms to improve contribution collection and payment, Richard Manu, Manger, Self Employed Enrollment Drive (SEED) highlighted a key aspect of the SSNIT scheme: the invalidity pension, which provides financial support to contributors who become permanently incapacitated.
He noted that the scheme includes a life policy that covers mortality risk, offering a survivor’s lump sum to the beneficiaries of deceased contributors.
Mr Manu also stressed the importance of employer contributions, which are essential for SSNIT to meet its financial obligations, including pensions and other benefits.
He revealed that by adhering to these regulations, employers can benefit from improved productivity, heightened employee morale, and greater industrial harmony.
