Steele Family Foundation launches ‘Youth Thrive Project’ to support stranded students with scholarships

The Steele Family Foundation, and its partners, SOS Children’s Villages Canada, Head of State Award scheme, SOS Children’s Villages Ghana and Ghana Education Service, Shai Osu-Doku has launched the Youth Thrive Project in Accra.

The Steele Family Foundation, founded by Michael Steele, President, and his wife, Stacey Steele, Director of Communications, has been dedicated to funding grassroots charitable initiatives for over 17 years.

Through the WISE Scholarship ProgramTM (World Impact Scholarship and Education), the family empowers ‘Stranded Superstar’ participants with resources, mentorship, and opportunities to achieve their goals.

On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, the family with its partners launched the Youth thrive Project in Accra.

The Youth Thrive Project seeks to enhance WISE participant’s self-reliance by improving their educational attainment, employability, life skills, and community engagement.

It also addresses key challenges in Ghana, such as limited access to scholarships, high unemployment, and a lack of essential life skills and mentorship.

The project empowers WISE participants through academic and career guidance, internships, mentorship programs, and work attachments, while encouraging

personal development through digital skills, mental health support, and experiential learning.

This active participation equips WISE participants to become changemakers, driving socio-economic transformation in their local areas.

As a core component of the project, the WISE Scholarship ProgramTM awards full scholarships to deserving WISE participants, enabling them to pursue post-secondary education in Ghana.

Scholarships are determined through a four-year, 100-point “Earn to Learn” system, which evaluates WISE participants across various pillars and achievements.

The project which starts from December 2024 to December 2028 Targeting 150 beneficiaries Young people, aged 14 to 18 years in JHS 3.

The Project locations are Four SOS CV Ghana Programme locations (Asiakwa, Kumasi, Tamale, and Tema) and Public Schools in the Dodowa Community.

Meanwhile, the implementing Partners include SOS Children’s Villages Canada, Head of State Award, SOS Children’s Villages Ghana, Ghana Education Service, Shai Osu-Doku.
