Suame Youth Organiser called for justice, not violence – Opare Addo

George Opare Addo, National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said, the party’s Suame youth organizer, Razak Koampa Avoliya, raised legitimate questions and never called for violence.

He said his (Razak) comments were premised on conditions of some previous happenings.

According to him, the comments came at the back of nine Ghanaians losing their lives in the 2020 general elections without investigation and that his comment was to self-defense when provoked.

Speaking with Nana Owoahene, on Oman Mu Nsem on Atinka Tv, last Saturday, he admitted that some of the words used were ‘harsh’ but he raised legitimate issues of intimidation by political opponent and failure by the NPP government to investigate the killings of eight persons at Techiman South Constituency and one person at Ablekuma South during the December 7, 2020 general elections.

He said the comments would have been avoided if government took steps to investigate happenings on December 7, 2020 general elections.

“…But 8 persons died on the 7 of December 2020, we are in 2023, three years down the line and the police has not come out to say anything and Nana Addo Danquah Akufo -Addo who we have a social contract with as our president has not said a word.”

“I support his call for justice. I don’t support anybody who seeks the death of anybody.”

He urged the youth to be “circumspect in their utterances because we need a united Ghana at all times” adding that the police must rise up to the occasion and work in the interest of citizens.

“There cannot be peace without justice” he said.

Razak Koampa Avoliya, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth Organizer at the Suame constituency in Kumasi in a television interview allegedly instigated party members to engage in political violence when provoked.

Following the comments, Razak Koampa Avoliya handed himself to the police after he was declared a wanted man and subsequently remanded by the Asokwa District Court presided over by Fred Obikyere on the charge of offensive conduct, conducive to breaches of peace of the state.
