A senior lecturer at the University of Ghana, Professor Ransford Gyampo, has questioned foreign diplomats who poke their noses into the local affairs of the host country abroad.
This comes after The British High Commissioner to Ghana, Harriet Thompson, raised concerns on social media over the arrest of the #FixTheCountry Movement lead convener, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, for traffic offense.
“Oliver Barker Vormawor, convener of #FixTheCountry movement, arrested again, I understand for a motoring offence on his way to court. I’ll be interested to see where this goes…” the diplomat said in a tweet.
Her tweet was responded to in a 4 paged document by the Inspector General of Police.
In a series of Facebook posts, Professor Ransford Gyampo, revealed that Ghanaian Diplomats know how to draw attention to ills of their host countries abroad for the attention of authorities.
Citing a “comedian” High Commissioner who came to fight with local “pastors” in Ghana, Professor Gyampo stated that the fact that Ghanaians receive aids doesn’t mean we must be puppets and tolerate diplomatic buffoonery.
“We remember how that comedian High Commissioner came to fight with local “pastors”. Which Ghanaian diplomat can publicly poke his or her nose into the local affairs of the host country abroad? It doesn’t happen.”
“Foreign diplomats, who are of no relevance in their home countries & posted to Africa as punishment, cannot come and dictate to us.”

“They should talk about the ills in their home countries first & confine themselves to their role as spies.”
“Diplomacy is not propaganda. We have serious challenges as a country. But anyone well socialized about the dogmas of diplomacy knows how to articulate such challenges for the attention of authorities- That’s diplomacy.”
“Ghanaian Diplomats know how to draw attention to ills of their host countries abroad for the attention of authorities. Rather than talking publicly to authorities, they will engage them directly behind the scenes. We teach this at UG-LECIAD”
“The fact that we receive aid doesn’t mean we must be puppets and tolerate diplomatic buffoonery. They also exploit our natural resources and pay us pittance. They mine our gold and pay us only 5%! They take our oil and pay us about 13%”, Gyampo said on Facebook.
