Tamale parade underlines nation's peace and unity-Akufo-Addo

The President Of The Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has said that the commemoration of the 62nd anniversary at the Northern Region is not only to underline the unity of Ghana, but also to express the appreciation of the nation for the peace and the process of reconciliation that have engulfed Dagbon since the enskinment of Yaa-Na Mahama Abukari II as Overlord of Dagbon, on 25th January.

For the first time, the anniversary celebration was held at the Tamale, drawing a lot of dignitaries, kings and queens not only from the Northern Region but across the country to commemorate Ghana’s independence.

Speaking at the celebration on March, 6th, 2019, Nana Akuffo-Addo noted that after decades of being identified with unrest and disharmony, Dagbon had good reason to celebrate, and, therefore the need to use the independence anniversary celebration to celebrate with them on the theme of peace and unity.

“After decades of being identified with unrest and disharmony, Dagbon has good reason to celebrate, and it is fitting that we use the opportunity of our independence anniversary celebration to converge here and celebrate with them on the theme of peace and unity,” he said.
