Tobinco Media Group Unveils Ghana’s First AI Newscaster as Bullet TV Marks One Year

Ghana’s First AI Newscaster

Tobinco Media Group (TMG) has introduced Ghana’s first artificial-intelligence newscaster as part of celebrations marking the first anniversary of Bullet TV.

The AI anchor, named Margaret Tobbin, is designed to support human newscasters rather than replace them—allowing staff, especially women, to take needed biological or family breaks without fear of losing their roles.

According to Odelia Ntiamoah Boampong, Managing Director of TMG, the initiative positions Bullet TV as a pioneer in media innovation.

“We want people to think innovation when they think of us,” she said.

She explained that the AI concept was inspired by the nurturing role of the late mother of Tobinco Group’s Executive Chairman, Elder Samuel Amo Tobbin. Like a supportive mother or grandmother stepping in, the AI newscaster is meant to “augment and support the team.”

The AI will handle minor bulletins, especially when human presenters are unavailable or on location.

Madam Odelia Boampong stressed that AI will not replace journalists, noting limitations such as anglicized pronunciations, especially in local languages.

She added that Bullet TV is using its anniversary as a launchpad for new content, including women-in-business features, diplomatic and rural reporting, and expanded event-organizing services for the business community.

TMG also plans a series of festivities and corporate events through December.

Madam Odelia Ntiamoah Boampong described the moment as “exciting times ahead,” urging viewers to stay tuned to Bullet TV for innovation and growth in the coming year.
