Townhall meeting: TMA awarded One Million support contract from Finance Ministry

The Tema Municipal Assembly-TMA has been awarded a GHC1,000,000 support contract by the Finance Ministry following its participation in the just ended maiden Townhall meeting in Accra.

The meeting which was organised in collaboration with the Regional Coordinating Council with a platform to showcase government’s infrastructural projects and social interventions in the regions saw TMA emerging successful in its presentations hence this support from the finance ministry.

The presentation which was led by the MCE for Tema West, Felicia Edem Attipoe and her able team from the assembly participated with its crack team from the assembly and excelled in their presentation.

Speaking to the media, MCE for Tema West, Felicia Edem Attipoe noted that, her team will sit down and plan on how to use the money and will be put to a very judiciously use, she noted

According to the MCE, about five projects have been thought of but will sit down and chose one for this One Million offer opportunity as soon as possible.

We have made our proposal ready and will send it to the ministry for the support.

Speaking at the town hall meeting, the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, stated that the size of the economy, despite challenges, had grown by $20 billion under the current administration as of 2023.

He compared this to 2013 when, under Mahama’s administration, the size of the economy was $64 billion, which decreased to $56 billion in 2016.

“As of 2023, the Ghanaian economy had reached $76 billion, indicating a nominal growth of $20 billion under the Akufo-Addo Government”, He indicated.

The Minister emphasized that the Government had made tough economic decisions amid global economic crises caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war, which were beginning to yield positive results.

The Townhall meeting was also to showcase developments made so far by all the 29 districts, Municipal, MMDAs included Tema West. Tema West alone has about eight projects done so far in Tema West assembly and still counting and this impressed the ministry per their presentation as they showcased such visible projects just in two months in office.
Roads from Adjei Kojo Under bridge to Boiteman, we also targeting from motorway to Sakumanor estate, Tespo market among others are all being constructed.

The meeting is expected to be taken to all 16 regions of the country, the townhall meetings will focus on government’s achievement within respective regions and dovetail into national develop­ment.

The event provided an opportunity for all 29 District, Municipal, and Metropolitan Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Greater Accra Region to exhibit key infrastructural projects implemented by the government from 2017 to date.
