Traders at Lapaz record high patronage after festive season

Atinka TV’s morning show, “Ghana Nie Drive,” was held live from Lapaz in Accra today, Friday, January 13, 2023.

The show was held at different locations in Accra over the past few days.

The presenters on the ground at Lapaz, Ama Gyenfa Ofosu Darkwa and Speaker Nana Yaw Fianko, interacted with traders to find out how sales have been after the festive season.

Prior to the festive season, traders in the capital said they did not experience bumper sales as expected.

Traders in and around the central business district of Accra bemoaned the slow pace of the sales of goods, especially Christmas goods.

Some traders attributed the low sales to the lack of money in the system.

Ama Gyenfa Ofosu Darkwa talked to a shoe seller at Lapaz who said that sales have been better than in the days before the holiday.

“Before the festive season, you could see there weren’t enough people passing through our lanes.” Before the holiday season, we could come and sit here the whole time and nothing would happen. “But like I mentioned, business has really picked up,” he said.

Speaking on the increasing prices, a coconut seller who also spoke to Speaker Nana Yaw Fianko, also said the prices of coconut have increased.

“Coconut is now selling at 4 cedis for one. Although we buy the coconut at GHS1.50 for one, some other factors that cannot be controlled force us to peg the price at GHS4,” he added.
