Ghana’s First Lady, Lordina Mahama, has called for stronger global support to protect vulnerable children, urging world leaders to work together for peace and development.
Speaking at a special prayer service for children held at the opening of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, Mrs. Mahama highlighted the growing threats children face around the world — including conflict, poverty, and neglect.
Mrs. Mahama expressed concern about children affected by war and crisis, particularly in Africa, where many are forced into violence or left without families and homes.

She also shared the work of the Lordina Foundation, her non-governmental organization in Ghana, which supports orphans and vulnerable children. Through this work, she said, lives are being changed — and she encouraged more global support for similar initiatives.
The prayer service was organized by World Vision International, along with the World Council of Churches, Caritas Internationalis, the Episcopal Church, and other faith-based organizations.
Also present at the event were Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration), and officials from the Lordina Foundation.
