A cameraman with Tobinco Media Group’s Bullet TV, Edward Adjetey, was physically attacked by a supporter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the ongoing Save the Judiciary demonstration in Accra.
The incident, which unfolded while Bullet TV was broadcasting live from the protest, is reported to have occurred after the attacker allegedly mistook Edward for a TV3 journalist.
According to eyewitnesses, Edward was behind the camera alongside his reporter when the suspect, from behind, launched an unexpected assault.
“my friend thought he was from TV3,” one of the men close to the attacker reportedly said.

Efforts by Edward Adjetey to capture footage of the attacker were thwarted by some NPP supporters, with one telling this reporter that they intervened because “the suspect wanted to stab the journalist.”
The attack comes on the back of heightened tensions between the NPP and Media General’s TV3.
The party recently blacklisted the station over what it described as unfair coverage, and a TV3 microphone was publicly discarded during a recent NPP event.

The Save the Judiciary demonstration, led by the NPP and a coalition of parties, aims to protest what they call government-backed efforts to remove the Chief Justice.
But Monday’s attack has raised concerns about press safety at political events.
So far, neither the NPP leadership nor the Ghana Police Service has officially commented on the assault.
