Ransford Yohanes Agbenu, the partially blind boy, who needed support from the public to undergo an eye surgery in India has left Ghana for India for the surgery.
He left Ghana on the eve of Tuesday, March 3, 2020 with his Guardian, Jennifer Hlordzi on an Emirates flight which landed in India this morning in Chennai, India.
The two are expected to spend 45 days in India for doctors to have enough time to examine the patient before and after the surgery.
After the payment, the Atinka News Team used the remaining funds from the public to secure an expressed passport for the boy and his guardian, as well as visas for the two.
From the same donations, the Atinka News Team purchased plane tickets for the two who will spend about 45 days in India.
Ransford Yohanes Agbenu who was diagnosed of total Limbal stem cell deficiency due to vernal keratoconjunctivities with Limbar and corneal involvement has a sight of 2 centimetres.
He was on autologus syrum and other medication on both eyes and was to undergo a buston k. Pro surgery at a cost 8,310 Dollars in a branch of Dr Agarwal’s hospital in India for both eyes.
Before the departure , Mr Rafik Mahama, an aide to Mr Ibrahim Mahama expressed his excitement about the boy leaving Ghana to undergo the surgery to fully regain his sight.
On behalf of Engineers and Planners, Mr Rafik Mahama thanked the entire public who supported the boy with their resources.
He also stated that the boy’s sight has become the priority of Engineers and Planners and therefore will assist him financially to ensure the boy fully regains his sight.

On her part, the Guardian of the boy, Jennifer Hlordzi also expressed her excitement about the trip after hoping for it for a long time.
She also thanked Mr Mahama and all those who donated, the entire Atinka Media Village team and other media houses.
