We won’t pull out of Presidential race –Akua Donkor’s running mate

Kwabena Agyeman Appiah Kubi (Roman Fada), the running mate for the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), has maintained that the party will still contest this year’s presidential election despite the sudden demise of its flagbearer, Madam Akua Donkor.

Madam Akua Donkor passed away on Monday at 10 PM at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (River Hospital).

Following the unfortunate incident, there have been suggestions in certain quarters that the GFP will not contest the presidential elections.

However, speaking on Atinka  TV Midday News on Tuesday, Roman Fada debunked that assertion, insisting that his party will contest the presidential elections.

According to him, Akua Donkor was a dedicated politician throughout her political journey, and she distinguished herself by running for the presidency multiple times, demonstrating remarkable resilience despite financial challenges.

“She has a lot of good policies to support Ghanaians, so the party members and the executives are going to protect them and her legacy.  Additionally, we will not withdraw from this year’s election; the party executives are preparing ahead of the election and will soon reveal their plans to Ghanaians,” he added.

Narrating moments leading to Akua Donkor’s demise, Roman Fada said, “I spoke with her on Saturday around 10:30 am, 11 am thereabout, for more than two hours. And later on, Saturday evening, I had a call that she was not feeling well and had been taken to Nsawam government hospital and was brought back home. We rushed Akua Donkor to Ridge Hospital on Sunday morning, where she passed on at 10 p.m.”
