YEA to recruit 80,000 non-graduates

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured non-graduates of some 80,000 jobs to be provided under the Youth Employment Agency (YEA).  

The President mentioned that aside graduate unemployment been an issue, non-graduates cannot be left out of the cycle.

Speaking at the ceremony to launch the Nation Builders' corps (NACOB) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi Tuesday,1st May, Nana Akufo-Addo noted that YEA  is set to employ 80,000 non graduates this year.

“The World Bank Jobs in Ghana Report published in 2016 revealed that about 48 per cent of the youth in the country, who are between the ages of 15 and 25 years, do not have jobs”

According to the President, the situation has been worsened by the ban on public sector employment by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

 “I wish to state also that the YEA programme will also recruit some 80,000 non-graduates this year,” he said.
