Youth group issues 7-day ultimatum to political parties over manifestos

Pressure group, Ghana Youth on Fire, has issued a 7-day ultimatum to the various political parties, to redraft their party manifestos to suit the aspirations of Ghanaian youths, or risk losing their votes in the December 7 elections.

Addressing a press conference in Tema, President of the Ghana Youth on Fire, Dr Willie Coffie Korto, said, the manifestos of the main political parties, the NDC and NPP, do not offer any future or hope for the teeming Ghanaian youths, calling on the parties to as a matter of urgency, redraft their manifestos within 7 days to suit them, or risk loosing their votes.

“If you take a critical look at both the NDC and NPP manifestos, there is nothing good in there that will create jobs or future for the ordinary Ghananian youth”, he bemoaned.

He said all they want is for any government to ensure the set up of a “local shoe, cloth and medicine producing factories” that will employ millions of Ghanaians.

He also criticised the country’s clergy and the media, for failing to put politicians on their toes to ensure they work in the interest of the country.

The Ghana Youth on Fire, which has over 2,000 membership, has served notice, it would convince its members and the Ghanaian youths to stay away from the 2020 elections if their demands are not met.
