175 Voluntary Groups Back Kennedy Agyapong for NPP 2028 Flagbearer

A total of 175 voluntary groups across the country have declared their support for former Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the 2028 general elections.

The endorsement was announced during a meeting in Cape Coast, where leaders of the various groups gathered under a new coalition named “The Base.”

The coalition aims to build strong grassroots support for Kennedy Agyapong ahead of the party’s next presidential primaries.

Chairman of the PHD-Ghana First Association, Nana Nyarko, explained the motivation behind the move: “Hon. Kennedy is a man of integrity and compassion. He stands for all Ghanaians, regardless of political affiliation,” – he said.

Also present at the event was Charles Bissue, former Western Regional Secretary of the NPP, who applauded the unity of the groups.

“This is purely a grassroots movement. From Ken Ladies to PHD-Ghana First, over 175 groups have come together to back Hon. Ken, even without his knowledge, all for the future of Ghana,” – he stated.

Mr. Bissue further described Agyapong as a pragmatic leader whose bold and decisive style is what the party needs going forward.

The coalition revealed plans to formally present itself to Kennedy Agyapong in Kumasi in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, the NPP has not yet begun internal processes for leadership elections following its defeat in the 2024 polls.
