“200 patients a day; how do I attend to them all?” – Doctor laments

The Medical Superintendent at the Ejura  Government Hospital in the Ejura Sekyre Odumase Municipality of the Ashanti Region, Dr. Mensah Manye, has bemoaned the inadequate doctors and nurses at the facility.

Narrating the level of stress and pressure he and a few nurses go through in serving the municipality, Dr. Manye explained that he attends to 200 cases on daily basis.

This obviously is beyond his capacity. Speaking to Agyenkwa FM, he revealed that he does both administration and operational work.
“I am the only medical doctor here and attend to 200 cases every day, how do I see them."

He added that nurses barely accept postings to the Municipal hospital and for that matter, the facility needs more including doctors to meet the rising challenges of health care delivery.

Dr. Manye made this known during a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a 25 special ward project graced by the Chief of Ejura, Barimah Osei Hwedie II.

The hospital since its establishment has never had any facelift. And with their limited human resources, they continue to deliver quality health care.
It also has no morgue to keep dead bodies for autopsy – creating a huge burden on families to seek services elsewhere.
Dr. Mensah Manye, called on the government to, as a matter of urgency, fix the Kumasi- Yeji road which is not motorable.

According to him, accidents have become rampant on the road, placing a huge demand on the hospital.
