Madagascar held the Black Stars scoreless for 90 minutes on match day 5 of the AFCON qualifiers at the Mahamasina Municipal Stadium.
The host team had a golden opportunity to score but was unable to do so. With the draw and Angola’s 2-1 victory over CAR, Ghana’s group lead has shrunk to just one point; the Black Stars have nine points after winning two games and drawing three times in five matches. This tie also places Madagascar at the bottom of the table.
A win over Madagascar could have secured a straight qualification for the Black Stars.
The Black Stars played poorly in the first half as players struggled to maintain possession, particularly in the opposition’s half but performed better in the second half.
