The impending State of the Nation Address (SONA) by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been postponed to Wednesday, March 8.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was initially scheduled to appear on the floor of the House to deliver the address on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.

Frank Annor-Dompreh, the Majority Chief Whip, made the announcement for the postponement of the State of the Nation address during his presentation of the business statement for the third week ending Friday, March 3.

The Majority Chief Whip did not give any reason for the decision to postpone the State of the Nation Address.

All things being equal, the exercise that is mandatory for a sitting president as per Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution will take place two days after the 66th independence anniversary celebration in the Volta Region.
