25 robbery suspects arrested

The Ghana Police Service has arrested 25 robbery suspects in the various regions across the country within two weeks.

This is from February 1st to February 14th 2022.

Per a statement by the Police, the robbery suspects are Moses Walewale, Kwame Ansong, Nana Kow Mensah, Eric Abi Aidoo, Bismark Abugri, Kanita Gariba Zule, Eliasu Awudu, Abubakar Ali, Haruna Mohammed, Nicholas Mills and Dennis Mawuli.

The others are Nana Kwame, Jojo Kwame Nhyira, Kwadwo Peter aged, Kwame Barko, Ebenezer Pupulapu, Francis Mahama, Alexander Agyeman, Badu Gabriel, Nii Addo, Kwesi Arthur, Evans Koffie, Baba Shaibu Iddrisu and Michael Divuo.

According to the police, this success was possible due to the effective collaboration between the police and the affected communities.

“We wish to take this opportunity to thank all members of the public who supported us in these operations,” the Police said.

It added that, “We are confident that if communities continue to partner the police in our crime fighting efforts, together we can make our country safer today than it was yesterday, and more peaceful today than tomorrow.”

A Security Analyst, Dr Adam Bonaa, says the lack of trust in the police by citizens makes them want to hit back at the police when they fault in their line of duty.

His comments follow the shooting incident at Tamale over the weekend.

Six police Officers were interdicted over the weekend following a shooting incident at Lamashegu in Tamale.

One person died while others sustained various degrees of injuries in the violence.

According to eyewitnesses, the chaos started after a police patrol team allegedly shot a young man driving a white Toyota Camry with a DV number plate after he had refused to stop when the police stopped him.

He is said to have driven to the Chief for cover but was pursued there by the Police.
