Atinka TV’s Kids Dance has been named the Programme of the Year under the Ghanaian Language category at the 28th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Media Awards held at the International Conference Center on Saturday
Atinka Kids Dance is a show that harnesses the dance talents of children and as well give them the platform to showcase their talents and to build their confidence.
Each week, the children are given tasks to perform with different genres of music to give audience varieties.
The two seasons of the show has witnessed massive patronage from children, parents, guardians and sponsors due to its educative and entertaining nature.
Aside from showcasing talents, the children have been given the platforms to showcase to the world what they can do.
Due to this, Atinka kids dance was honoured at the prestigious media awards.
The GJA 28th GJA Awards which was held in Accra on Saturday at the Conference Centre was held on the theme, “75 Years of Excellence in Journalism: The Role of the Media in Democratic Governance and Elections’.
It also marks the climax of the 75th Anniversary of the GJA while it celebrates journalistic excellent.
Speaking at the event, the President of GJA, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour assured that the Association will continue to support training programmes to build capacities of Journalists.
He paid homage to forebears and trailblazers of the profession and honoured their contribution to the success of the profession.
He urged the media to act responsibly before, during and after the election by giving fair platforms to all political parties.
Mr Dwumfour also warned against media abuse saying those who feel attacked should report offenders to the right authority and not attack them physically.
He was of the view that an attack on the media was an attack on Ghana’s democracy.
Mr Dwumfour assured that the media will do its best to promote democracy and act responsibly during electioneering.
He also observed that Journalists are not paid well enough and therefore called on the Information Ministry to Champion the financial wellbeing of Journalists and resource state owned media including GBC and GNA to deliver well on their mandate and encouraged private media owners to do same.
Meanwhile, Edward Adeti of Media Without Borders worn the Overall Journalist of the Year 2023.
