Residents of Tepa-Ankaase, a community in the Ahafo Ano North Municipality of the Ashanti Region, have staged a massive demonstration calling for the removal of their chief, Nana Kwame Buo.
According to the aggrieved residents, since Nana Kwame Buo ascended the stool, he has failed to bring any meaningful development to the community. They accused him of imposing exorbitant fees on bereaved families, alleging that he charges between GH¢1,000 and GH¢2,000 before allowing the burial of deceased relatives.

The residents further lamented the lack of basic social amenities such as potable drinking water and a public toilet facility in the community. They claimed that anyone who dares to speak against the chief’s actions faces intimidation and victimization.
We are suffering under his leadership. He doesn’t live with us in peace, and yet he is making life difficult for the people of Tepa-Ankaase.

The demonstrators appealed to the Akwaboahene, the overlord of the area, to intervene and replace Nana Kwame Buo with a leader who will unite the community and work towards its development.
The peaceful protest saw several residents holding placards with inscriptions such as “We Need Development, Not Oppression” and “Remove Nana Kwame Buo Now.”
